Changelog

Latest version 1.2.0, released 15 September 2026

Updates are free and automatic. Chrome installs each new version for you, usually within a day of its release. Your license covers every update, with nothing more to pay.

  1. v1.2.0Latest

Point any zoom exactly where you want

Automatic zoom aims at your clicks and typing. Now you can aim any zoom yourself, which makes recordings of desktop apps look as good as recordings of websites.

    • New

      Zoom focus point

Right-click any zoom on the timeline and choose Zoom focus point. A box appears on the preview showing exactly what that zoom will show. Drag it over the part you want people to see, and that is what the zoom shows in the video.

    • Improved

      Better zooms outside the browser

Recordings of desktop apps, or of Chrome’s own address bar, have no clicks inside a web page for automatic zoom to aim at. A zoom focus point fixes that in a few seconds.

    • Improved

What you aim is what you get

The box stops where the camera can really reach, so a zoom pushed into a corner shows exactly what the box showed. Undo works while you aim, and Escape cancels a drag.

    • Fixed

Your license keeps working through Polar’s update

Polar, who handles payments and license keys, changes how its system answers on 1 October 2026. ScreenCursor now asks for the version it was tested with, so that change cannot switch off a license you paid for.

  2. v1.1.0

    Faster exports, and 60 fps

A new way of reading your recording during export: quicker, smoother, and with no stray frames.

    • New

      Export at 60 fps

The zoom and the cursor are drawn fresh for every frame of the export, so 60 fps makes both visibly smoother. The editor offers 60 when your recording captured it, and your recording’s own rate when it captured less, so you never wait longer for a bigger file with nothing extra in it. 30 fps stays the default.

    • Improved

      Exports up to 2.4x faster

Frames now come straight from the recording file instead of from scrubbing a video player. On a 30 second recording, a 30 fps export became 1.5x faster and a 60 fps export 2.4x faster. This needs Chrome 130 or newer; older versions export the way they did before.

    • Fixed

      No more flashing frames

Exported videos could sometimes show a single frame from the wrong moment. That no longer happens.

    • Fixed

The editor waits while you export

Clicking the timeline or pressing space during an export could put the wrong frame into the file. The editor now pauses while the export runs and shows its progress, with a Cancel button, and closing the tab asks first.

    • Fixed

      The lost key link works

The link for people who lost their license key led to a page that did not exist. It now opens your Polar customer portal, where you sign in with the email you bought with.

  3. v1.0.0

    ScreenCursor launches

A screen recorder that adds the zooms for you. Record, stop, and the video is already finished.

    • New

      Automatic zoom

Every click, drag and keystroke becomes a smooth camera move that arrives just before the action, so viewers are already looking at the right place. Choose a snappy or gentle feel.

    • New

      Record anything on your screen

A browser tab, one app window, or your whole screen, with system audio and your microphone if you want them.

    • New

      An editor for every zoom

Retime a zoom, change its depth, delete it, or add your own anywhere. Zooms can follow the cursor or stay where they land.

    • New

      Trim, cut and speed up

Split the recording, cut out what nobody needs to watch, and speed up slow parts. The zooms move with every cut.

    • New

      A finished look

Wallpapers, gradients, solid colours or your own image behind the video, a browser frame showing the real page, rounded corners and shadow, and aspect ratios for anywhere including vertical.

    • New

      Export and keep it

MP4 at 720p or 1080p, straight to your Downloads folder. No watermark. Nothing is ever uploaded, and it works offline.

ScreenCursor is $49 once, and every update above and after it is included. See what you get.
